1. Who we are
CaseBrief is a New Zealand-developed pre-consultation intake platform designed to help healthcare providers collect structured patient information before an appointment.
Patients may be invited by their clinic or healthcare provider to complete an intake questionnaire before a consultation. The information collected is summarised and delivered directly to the healthcare provider to support clinical workflow and consultation preparation.
CaseBrief does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, emergency triage, or treatment recommendations.
2. Information collected
CaseBrief may collect information entered by patients during the intake process, including:
- Presenting symptoms
- Medical history
- Medication information
- Mental health information
- Lifestyle or social history
- Contact details
- Questionnaire responses
The exact information collected depends on the consultation pathway and the questions answered by the patient.
3. Why it is collected
Information is collected to help healthcare providers prepare for consultations, improve efficiency, and support clearer clinical communication.
CaseBrief structures patient-provided information into a concise summary intended to assist clinician review prior to the appointment.
The platform is designed to support healthcare workflow and does not replace clinical judgement.
4. How information is used
Information entered into CaseBrief is processed to generate a structured summary for the relevant healthcare provider.
The generated summary may be delivered through secure email or integrated clinical workflow systems used by the clinic.
CaseBrief does not sell patient information and does not use health information for advertising purposes.
5. Deletion of information
CaseBrief is designed to minimise retained health information.
After a summary has been successfully transmitted to the healthcare provider, submitted intake information is deleted from active systems unless temporary retention is required for technical delivery or legal obligations.
Clinics receiving the summary are responsible for management and retention of information within their own clinical systems.
6. Your rights
Under New Zealand privacy law, individuals may have rights to access or request correction of personal information held about them.
Requests relating to clinical records or consultation summaries should generally be directed to the healthcare provider or clinic involved in the consultation.
Questions regarding CaseBrief privacy practices can be directed to the contact details listed below.
7. Health information
Health information is treated as sensitive information and is handled with additional care.
CaseBrief is designed to support secure transfer of consultation information between patients and healthcare providers.
Patients should not use CaseBrief for medical emergencies or urgent health concerns.
If you are experiencing chest pain, severe shortness of breath, suicidal thoughts, or another medical emergency, contact emergency services or seek urgent medical care immediately.

The CaseBrief website may collect limited technical information such as browser type, device information, and anonymised usage analytics to help improve website performance and reliability.
This information is not used to identify individual patients unless required for security, troubleshooting, or legal reasons.
